Master Workshop in Chinese Pole Offered
EVANSTON, IL - The Actors Gymnasium (AG) recently featured a circus apparatus known as Chinese pole in their highly acclaimed show, The Magical Exploding Boy and The Invisible Circus. The Chinese Pole was a major crowd pleaser in the shows finale and piqued interest among students and staff. Due to this notable level of interest, AG will offer a master workshop on the apparatus, taught by Javen Ulambayar.
Ulambayar graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2012 with a Kinesiology degree and an emphasis on clinical movement and science. During his high school and college years, he attended the circus school "Juventas" in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Here he attained his skills in a variety of performing acts. His performances while in circus school included tumbling, teeterboard, jump rope, Chinese Pole, acro and Russian Bar. He also specializes in aerial straps.
The Chinese pole is a vertical pole on which performers display strength and skill by climbing, sliding down, and holding poses. The two hour Chinese pole workshop will focus on incorporating movements and techniques that develop strength, flexibility and endurance. This class is suitable for all levels and abilities and is open to complete beginners.
The workshop will take place on May 3rd for students ages 16 and older. For more information and to enroll in the workshop, click here.
