Land Acknowledgement

Actors Gymnasium recognizes that we occupy the land of Indigenous Peoples, who have been its traditional stewards since long before European colonization. This land and water has been the site of trade, travel, gathering, and healing for generations, and continues to be home to Council of the Three Fires–comprised of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations–as well as the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee nations, Sac, Fox, Kickapoo, and Illinois Nations.

Colonialism is an ongoing process; Actors Gymnasium commits to our continued education on the history that has contributed to it, and to acknowledging the currently existing, diverse communities of the Native Peoples of Chicagoland. This work is an imperative part of our mission to be an inclusive and equitable education institution. We invite you to join us in learning about and supporting the Native communities who have historically lived here, and who continue to thrive in the Chicagoland area.
